International-mindedness is encompassed in the IB Learner Profile. It
is further developed by practices under PYP standards.

In the PYP, the school's curriculum includes all those student activities, academic and non-academic, for which the school takes responsibility since they all have an impact on student learning.
The five essential elements resonate throughout the entire curriculum.
- Ritchhart and Perkins 2008 Making thinking visible
- Murdoch 2006 Negotiating Curriculum with students
- Hart 1992 children's participation (from 'Children's participation and the concept of rights' p6 - p14)

ReplyDeleteI really liked the human graphing activity, it was hard not to talk!
ReplyDeleteResearching the article with another was the ideal for me as we were able to discuss what we thought and how we had seen it used.
This was a really useful session, reading material that helped to clarify my understanding of the PYP. A combination of the reading and discussion with my group, supported with the shared resource we developed made a real difference for my learning. I fully expect to read many of the other reading materials linked off this page. Thanks for sharing these.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed reading the 'Making learning visible' article. Think-Puzzle-Explore is a very practical approach for students to inquire into concepts.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the discussion of the reading tasks and will be reading a few other pieces in the near future. The importance of collaborative planning was highlighted as being extremely valuable which reflects my experience and practice.
